About Us

Who We Are

Cast for Vets is a Canadian nonprofit dedicated to helping veterans heal and reconnect through the calming, therapeutic power of fly fishing. We create welcoming programs that provide free gear, lessons, and outdoor experiences designed to reduce stress, build resilience, and foster community among those who served.

Our Mission

We help Canadian veterans by offering accessible, nonprofit fly fishing programs that combine education, peer support, and restorative time in nature. Our goal is to ensure every veteran feels supported, valued, and empowered to thrive beyond their service.

What We Do

  1. Gear Provision – Veterans receive all necessary equipment free of charge.
  2. Lessons & Instruction – Beginner-friendly, supportive learning for all skill levels.
  3. Guided Trips – Group outings that encourage camaraderie, healing, and connection.
  4. Community Support – Veterans supporting veterans, building friendships that last.
  5. Virtual Access – Online sessions for those unable to join in person.

Why It Matters

For many veterans, adjusting to life after service can bring challenges such as stress, isolation, and loss of purpose. Fly fishing provides a calming, mindful activity that restores balance, builds resilience, and strengthens bonds within the veteran community.

Why Fly Fishing?

The rhythmic flow of casting a line, the beauty of nature, and the sense of accomplishment foster a healing environment for veterans facing challenges like PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Fly fishing helps to ease the mind and strengthen bonds through shared experiences on the water.
