Gear Provision
We provide veterans with all the fly fishing gear they need — completely free of charge. From rods and reels to lines and flies, everything is supplied so participants can focus on healing, connection, and learning. By removing financial barriers, we ensure every veteran has equal access to the restorative experience of fly fishing.

Lessons & Instruction
We welcome veterans of all skill levels — no experience required. Our volunteers provide patient, beginner-friendly instruction on the art of fly fishing, from casting techniques to reading the water. These lessons aren’t just about fishing; they create a calming, mindful space that supports healing, confidence, and personal growth.

Guided Trips
Our programs include group outings to rivers, lakes, and streams where veterans can enjoy the peace of nature while practicing their new skills. Each trip is designed to foster camaraderie, reduce stress, and provide a safe, supportive environment where veterans can connect with one another. All transportation, gear, and guidance are provided at no cost.

Community & Peer Support
At Cast for Vets, we believe healing happens best in community. Our programs bring veterans together to share experiences, build friendships, and support one another both on and off the water. This peer-to-peer connection strengthens resilience and reduces feelings of isolation, helping participants feel truly valued and included.
Virtual Opportunities
For those who can’t attend in person, we offer online sessions and virtual meet-ups. These provide veterans with access to instruction, support, and community wherever they are in Canada. Every veteran deserves the chance to benefit from the calming, restorative power of fly fishing.
How to Get Involved
If you are a Canadian veteran living with a disability, we invite you to connect with Cast for Vets and take part in this therapeutic fly fishing program. No prior experience is needed — beginners are always welcome. Our programs include in-person outings as well as virtual sessions, ensuring every veteran has a way to participate.
Cast for Vets is also always looking for volunteers. Whether it’s teaching the basics of fly fishing, helping with transportation, preparing meals, or simply offering support, there’s a place for everyone to contribute. Together, we can create healing experiences and a stronger community for those who served.
